Appliance Maintenance: When Would You Need It?

Independent living can be an exhilarating feeling. You can go home anytime you want and do whatever you want. But living on your own is not without its challenges, and one of those challenges is making sure that all your appliances are in good working condition. You do not want your heating system dying on you in the middle of winter.

Here are some ways that appliances can stop working.

The Wonky Washer and the Dryer of Doom

Your washer and your dryer are two of the things that will likely break down within eight to ten years, given that you bought them as brand new. Hand-me-downs and secondhand washers and dryers tend to require more maintenance and repair since they have been used before.

Roaring Refrigerator

Refrigerators tend to have a life span of about 15 years. After that, you either have to replace them or spend much on repairs and maintenance. Some of the most common complaints when it comes to refrigerators would include a buildup of ice in the fridge, leaking water, and a door that doesn’t close. When it comes to parts, you have to watch out for the thermostat and the evaporator motor fan. If the former is responsible for temperature control, the latter moves the air over the evaporator coils to allow the refrigerant to absorb the heat. Broken compressors can be quite expensive to repair.

A World Without HVAC

HVAC unit

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning System. In cities like Park City, Utah, a good HVAC is a must. After all, the climate in Park City can either be too hot or too cold. A good HVAC should be able to stay with you between 15 to 20 years, especially f it gets regular tune-up from excellent air conditioning repair services. Some parts of an HVAC that are prone to repairs would include the coils, the thermostat, and the air blower. Your air filter may also need to be changed every six months.

It’s Over with the Oven Range

Oven ranges and stoves typically last about 15 years, but you might experience problems with the igniter and the control board now and then. 6% of the time, you might also have a problem with the oven bake element, particularly if you do not use that quite often. Ovens and stoves are also good hiding places for cockroaches and rodents, so you need to make sure that you keep them clean and properly closed all the time. Otherwise, these rodents and cockroaches can cause your wiring to break down.

The Microwave Is Done

In most cases of microwave ovens being brought for repairs, about 5% of the time, the problem is with the buttons on the panel that have either broken down or are not working properly. The second most common problem with microwave ovens is door latches that do not close properly. That can be quite a headache, especially if the oven does not run or if the door is not closed correctly. With proper maintenance, however, your microwave oven should be able to last for around three to five years.

With these in mind, you would know what action or step to take to fix the looming issue of appliances breaking down. Know when to prepare for these situations.
