What are the shipping & handling costs?

Within the United States

purchases up to $50: $6 shipping

purchases $51-$80: $8 shipping

purchases $81-$150: $10 shipping

purchases over $150: free shipping

To Canada

purchases up to $75: $8 shipping

purchases $76-$120: $10 shipping

purchases $120-$300: $15 shipping

purchases over $300: free shipping

Outside the United States & Canada

purchases up to $100: $15 shipping

purchases $101-$200: $17 shipping

purchases $201-$300: $20 shipping

When will my order be shipped?

Most purchases are shipped within 24 hours of the order being placed, with packages picked up by USPS or UPS around 2pm Pacific Time.

How will my order be shipped?

Within the United States, we ship packages under 4 pounds by USPS Priority Mail. United States packages over 4 pounds are sent by UPS. All packages shipped outside the United States are sent by USPS.

I live outside the United States, will I have to pay customs fees?

Customs fees are determined by your own countries customs agency. As a retailer, we are required by law to mark customs fees with the actual package contents and value as “merchandise”.

How long will my yarn take to arrive?

For domestic shipments yarn will usually arrive within three to five business days.

What about international orders?

For international shipments, it is harder to estimate as shipping times will vary dramatically. International orders may take a while to go through customs. Unfortunately, after your order has left the United States it is out of our hands and we can not be responsible for orders . Yarn will typically arrive in between 1-2 weeks, but may take as long as 5-6.

Will all of the yarn I am purchasing be from the same dyelot?

We hand pick skeins for each order and try our best to give you the best matching skeins. Often with hand-dyed yarn, there is variety within batches. If we don’t feel the skeins are well matched (and we look at these things with a critical eye as knitters ourselves!), we’ll call or email you with options for you to choose from.

What if I did not receive the correct items in my order?

We put every effort into ensuring orders are packaged correctly, but occasionally we do make mistakes. If you discover something wrong with your order, please let us know- by phone at 503.238.2106 or email info@happyknits.com. We will then work with you to have the correct items sent out to you as soon as possible and send a prepaid shipping label to return the incorrect items.

What if I change my mind and want to return yarn I ordered?

If you’ve changed your mind about all or part of a yarn purchase and would like to make a return we are happy to accept it as long as the items are in new and unused condition (no smoke/pet exposure) within 90 days of the original purchase. To initiate the process, please email orders@happyknits.com or call the shop at 503-238-2106.

  • Shipping fees to return items will be the responsibility of the customer.
  • When we receive your item, we will issue you a store credit that can be used at any time.
  • We cannot accept returns on books, patterns, needles, notions, or sale items.
  • If you will be the Portland area, we are happy to accept returns at our storefront at 1620 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
