Stephen West Wrap Up

We had so much fun when Stephen West visited Happy Knits on Saturday!

His Top-Down Shawl class filled up super quickly, but the ladies who were able to attend had a good time!

Stephen also brought his trunk show, dozens of his designs to admire!

After the class, Stephen signed his books and patterns, and answered questions about his patterns and samples.

But my favorite part of the day was seeing all of our stylish customers in their Stephen West knits!

April Knit Along–Great Divide Shawl

One of our customers, Michele Brown, designed a gorgeous and easy striped shawl pattern, called the Great Divide Shawl!

Michele’s shawl was knit with Madelinetosh DK in Maple Leaf and Smokestack

We are hosting a free knit along to create this shawl. You will need two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn–100 grams of each, along with a size 8 32″ circular needle, and a copy of the pattern. Michele’s Great Divide Shawl pattern is available in the Happy Knits shop, as well as on Ravelry.

The knit along will be every Monday in April, from 7 to 9 pm, and will be hosted by Michele Brown! She’ll give you tips on how to increase, do her crossed pattern stitch, and stripe without cutting your yarn, but this is a shawl simple enough for a beginning knitter to create!

There’s a good chance your brain is now currently in decompress mode, following the onslaught of election coverage it’s been subject to. All the more reason to offer it a crafty, scrumptious treat! By way of Ravelry!

In truth, we know many of you are firm supporters of the helpful/inspirational social media site that is Ravelry. That’s why we’re always happy to remind you to stay tuned to our Happy Knits page.

Especially because we love when YOU share your thoughts and personal projects with US, via the site! In fact, we’ve definitely begun posting more of our staff WIPs & FOs lately, and it’s left us eager to see what you guys and gals have been working on, as well.

We’ve also been sure to keep our page updated with announcements on new yarn, groups, classes and KALs, so if you ever have a question about any of these, it’s a great place to post an inquiry or comment. There’s also some terrific pics there, as we hope to inspire and motivate you crafters.

I mean, really – who wouldn’t wanna join the new KAL that will help you recreate this fantastic classic raglan sweater Kate just whipped up?!
