Staff Pick: A Treasury of Knitting Patterns

Now that she’s got 6 months of knitting under her belt, Nicci’s finally taking that step into more advanced projects!

Staff Member: Nicci (read more about Nicci here!)

“When I started knitting earlier this year, “The Principles of Knitting” was definitely my favorite,” she says. “It’s literally got an answer to just about any possible problem you could come across while knitting! I’ve happily reached a point now, though, where I want to tackle more challenging projects, and this definitely includes lacework. That’s why “A Treasury of Knitting Patterns” is absolutely perfect for me – and I can’t thank Tai enough for introducing me to it! :)

The book is fantastic from the start – Chapter One gives a great introduction to knitting and its history, and also has a large glossary of stitch abbreviations, which is so helpful for new knitters like me. Chapter Two’s also fantastic, because it helps develop my skills with simple knit-purl combinations.

And then there’s the rest of the book, which makes me feel I’ll never have to buy a pattern again! Page after page of pattern design, with lots of gorgeous lace patterns, and elaborately awesome stitch work. Every one of them is boiled down to bare essential instruction, and it makes even me, still a brand-new knitter, feel I could conquer the world with my needles!”
