Knitting and sports are in the news again. This past weekend, at Wimbledon, a smart knitter was multi-tasking while watching Andy Murray and Marcos Baghdatis at Centre Court. Murray went on to the finals, only to be defeated by Roger Federer, but we decided the real winner at Wimbledon was this knitter.
Sportscasters were “outraged,” but we think she’s awesome! While the Daily Mail was wondering who she was, we were more curious about the pattern she used for that very cute shawl she’s wearing. Well done, multi-tasker!
We at Happy Knits are huge fans of Knitting in Public. In fact, many of the staff carry little coupons around and hand them out when we encounter knitters on the bus, or waiting in line at the bank. I even gave a few away this weekend when I saw several knitters at the World Domination Summit here in Portland. Big events are the best places to knit!
Yay for creativity!
P.S. If you’re wanting your own chance to knit at a sporting event, we still have tickets to the Seattle Mariners Stitch n’ Pitch on July 27th. Stop by or call the shop to get yours today.
